3500/22M Transient Data Interface (TDI)

Description

Overview

The 3500/22M Transient Data Interface (TDI) provides the primary interface between a Bently Nevada 3500 machinery protection rack and System 1 condition-monitoring software. Installed in the left side of the rack, the TDI collects static values, dynamic overall data, and high-resolution transient waveforms from installed modules, timestamps events, and serves them over Ethernet for diagnostics, reporting, and long-term analysis—without interrupting protection functions.

Highlights

  • Rack controller & interface for the 3500 system (supersedes legacy RIM).

  • Transient data capture for startups, shutdowns, trips, and process upsets.

  • Ethernet (10/100Base-T) connection to System 1; supports remote configuration & data collection.*

  • Combines protection + condition monitoring: no separate transient card needed.

  • Time-stamped event/alarm logs for audit and troubleshooting.

  • Hot-swappable module with front status LEDs for health/communication.

*Use per site standard; exact protocol & options depend on System 1 version and rack configuration.

Communications & I/O

  • Rear I/O module for Ethernet and rack communications (ordered to match your rack).

  • Interfaces with installed 3500 monitors (e.g., 3500/40M, /42M, /44M, /50, /60, etc.) to acquire data.

  • Supports Keyphasor®-based diagnostics when present in the rack.

Compatibility & Ordering Notes

  • Fits Bently Nevada 3500 racks with appropriate power supplies and monitors.

  • Replaces RIM (3500/20) in most applications.

  • Typical order: 3500/22M TDI module + matching TDI I/O module (sold separately).

  • For firmware/System 1 compatibility, share your rack part list and software version.

Typical Applications

  • Turbomachinery (compressors, steam/gas turbines), large motors/generators

  • Critical pumps and fans in oil & gas, power, petrochem, mining

  • Any installation needing transient waveform capture with 3500 protection

What’s in the Box (this listing)

  • 3500/22M TDI module (spare/replacement).

  • Note: I/O module, rack, monitors, and cabling are not included unless stated on the quote.

FAQ

Q1: What does the 3500/22M TDI do?

It controls rack communications and streams static, dynamic, and transient data from 3500 monitors to System 1 over Ethernet.

Q2: Does the TDI affect protection functions?

No. Protection logic remains in the monitor modules; the TDI handles data & comms.

Q3: Is the rear I/O included?

Typically no. Order the TDI I/O module separately to match your rack and cabling.

Q4: Can I upgrade from RIM (3500/20)?

In most systems, yes. Share your rack configuration and System 1 version to verify.

Q5: What about Keyphasor® and transient capture?

When Keyphasor® and relevant monitors are installed, the TDI enables waveform/transient capture for advanced diagnosis in System 1.
