KROHNE OPTIFLUX 2000 Electromagnetic Flow Sensor

Description

Overview

The KROHNE OPTIFLUX 2000 electromagnetic flow sensor is the optimum solution for water and wastewater applications, with its long-term reliability and durability making it more than suitable for the water market. With just one signal converter and the widest range of flow sensors, the OPTIFLUX 2000 covers all applications, from simple water measurement to corrosive or abrasive products or even pulp in the paper industry.

As an authorized supplier of KROHNE instrumentation, Seven Star LLC proudly offers the OPTIFLUX 2000 to water utilities, wastewater treatment, power generation, and process industries across the Sultanate of Oman, Muscat, and the wider GCC. This new concept marks a new era in flow sensing, the result of more than 40 years of experience in electromagnetic flowmetering.

Measurement Principle

Magnetic flow meters measure the flow of electrically conductive liquids in full pipes using the principle of electromagnetic induction: as a conducting liquid passes through a magnetic field, a voltage is generated that is proportional to the velocity of the liquid moving through the field. The pressure drop through the meter is minimal—equal in magnitude to a piece of pipe of the same diameter and length—making it an excellent choice for low-pressure systems, and with no moving parts or obstructions in the fluid stream, the meter is virtually maintenance-free and suitable for fluids containing abrasives.

The OPTIFLUX 2000’s 3×100% diagnostics overcome the drawbacks of standard SIL2-certified equipment by detecting errors unrecognized under SIL2, indicating erroneous results caused by conditions such as gas bubbles, and correcting errors in accuracy and linearity that SIL2 alone cannot address. A 30-fold improvement in measuring technology components has increased performance further, particularly for very low conductivity media, rapid product changes with corresponding pH shifts, and pulp measurement in the paper industry. Modern pulsed DC excitation eliminates the zero-shift problems often found in other designs.

Engineering Design of the OPTIFLUX 2000

The OPTIFLUX 2000 is available in a large diameter range up to DN 2000, in both compact (signal converter mounted directly on the flow sensor) and remote (separate sensor and signal converter) configurations. The sensor is fully welded and maintenance-free, carrying an IP68 ingress protection rating suitable for high-humidity or submerged installation, with rugged liner materials approved for drinking water and resistant to low-concentration chemicals.

The sensor combines with the IFC 050, IFC 100, or IFC 300 signal converter to form the complete OPTIFLUX 2050, OPTIFLUX 2100, or OPTIFLUX 2300 electromagnetic flowmeter, spanning basic to advanced water and wastewater applications. In-situ verification is available with KROHNE MagCheck, and installation length follows DVGW and ISO standards, with fitting length designed for simplified installation. The sensor complies with OIML R-49 and ISO 4064 and carries international drinking water approvals.
